The month’s names are based on the Old Norse calendar, which is divided in two seasons: winter and summer.

vi. skerpla (unknown mythical figure)
vii. sólmánaðr (month of the sun)
viii. miðsumar (midsummer/ hay making)
ix. tvímánuður (second to last summer month)
x. haustmánaðr (autumn month)
xi. górmánaðr (slaughter, first winter month)
xii. ýlir (first yule month)
